Selva Kumar

Selvakumar, is a dedicated honey bee farmer from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. He bought a honey box in 1998 with an investment of 600 rupees and started beekeeping. He failed 8 times but still remain consistent and learned a new technique to recover from the failure and succeeded in beekeeping for the 9th time. Now he has about 5000 honey Bee Boxes which resulted in increase of his Revenue upto10 times. He has trained more than 10 thousand people on beekeeping. In 2017, he started and still runs "Nammalwar Environment Trust" in association with NABARD Bank for upliftment of tribals and Indian Bank for upliftment of people below poverty line. He has worked in Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Chennai SRM University for 7 years. He has also received an award for World Bee Day and a National Award from the Government of India for excellence in beekeeping.
